Centres of Excellence set new sights

The African Centres of Excellence and African Centres of Excellence-Additional Funding (ACE II and ACE II AF) National Steering Committee (NSC) meeting took place on Tuesday March 26, 2024 at Chikho Hotel in Kasungu.

The meeting was opened by Secretary of Education, Associate Professor Mangani Katundu, who commended the centres for delivering on a number of targets.

The NSC is a policy and oversight governmental organ for the African Centres of Excellence project funded by the Government of Malawi through a credit facility of the World Bank.

The centres of excellence are: African Centre of Excellence in Public Health and Herbal Medicine (ACEPHEM) at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences, African Centre of Excellence in Underutilised and Neglected Biodiversity (ACENUB) at Mzuzu University, Agricultural Policy Regional Centre of Excellence (APA), Centre of Excellence in Transformative Agriculture Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship (TACE) and African Centre of Excellence in Aquaculture and Fisheries Science (AQUAFISH) at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Centre for Resilient Agri-food Systems (CRAFS) at University of Malawi. The meeting was organised by Mzuzu University through ACENUB.
