
Biography
Prof. Fanuel Kapute, with over 18 years of university teaching, research, and outreach, holds a PhD and an MSc Degree in Aquaculture & Fisheries Science, as well as a BSc and Diploma in Agriculture (Fisheries and Aquaculture major) from the University of Malawi. He has 27 years of experience in fisheries science and has led major national projects, including a 2-year aquaculture project funded by the Norwegian government. Prof. Kapute has published over 55 peer-reviewed manuscripts, presented 30 conference papers, and supervised numerous research projects and students. He serves as an external examiner for several universities, a reviewer for various academic journals, and a visiting Professor at the Official University of Bukavu. He has held leadership positions at Mzuzu University, coordinated multiple programs and committees, and conducted international consultancies, including environmental and social impact assessments. Prof. Kapute has also developed the Country Programme Strategy for the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) – Small Grants Program (SGP), making him a highly respected figure in academia and fisheries science
